Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI)
QQI, formerly FETAC/HETAC, is responsible for “the external quality assurance of further and higher education and training (including English language provision) and validates programmes and makes awards for certain providers in these sectors.”
National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)
The Irish National Framework of Qualification (NFQ), which was established in 2003, is a framework for measuring and comparing learning achievements. The types and sizes of qualifications included in the NFQ are organised based on their level of knowledge, skill and competence. Because all NFQ qualifications are quality assured, learners can be confident that they will be recognised at home and abroad.
AONTAS is the Irish National Adult Learning Organisation and advocates and lobbies for the development of a quality service for adult learners, whilst also promoting the value of lifelong learning.
Further education places are also offered through local employment services centres or Intreo offices as employment supports.
